Taught my R. M. Walsh, Virginian’s most experienced BPI instructor. Mr. Walsh has trained more BPI professionals in the state of Virginia than any other Virginia based organization. His BPI recognized curriculum has a 93% pass rate on the online exam, and an overall success rate of 88%. Unlike other training programs VHP limits their class size to six students so every student gets the one on one exposure they need to be successful.
At VHP you'll see typical building defects close-up, as well as common repair methods. With exposed deficiencies throughout the home, and will students have the opportunity to see the problems they are most likely to encounter.

This course is designed to prepare individuals for national recognized BPI Auditor Online and Field exams. Field proctor testing is included and additional field mentoring is available.
We provide the training materials and all necessary inspection tools and equipment. However, you are welcome to bring (or ship in advance) your own tools if you prefer. Access to a wireless internet capable laptop computer with Internet Explorer is necessary for the online exam. If you do not have access, please let VHP know prior to registration.

This condensed Building Analysts class is perfect for the home performance professional looking to add the BPI Certification to their resume. In just four short days you can be exposed to all the necessary information needed to successfully pass the online and field exams. The online exam is administered at the end of the forth training day. Field exams are scheduled after the successful completion of the online exam. Field mentoring or past experience is highly recommended prior to scheduling the Field Exam.
BPI’s Building Analyst Certification: This is the fundamental certification and is the first step to becoming a professional energy auditor. BPI’s course covers the following topics designed to prepare you for the 2 hour 100 question written exam and the 2 hour one-on-one field exam.

Classroom Training - The BPI Building Analyst classroom training gives you the essential knowledge to perform an energy audit. Our instructors use Performance Systems proprietary Building Analyst curriculum approved by the Building Performance Institute to educate you on the above topics.
Field Training - BPI Building Analyst Field Training applies the fundamental principals learned in the classroom to an actual residential home. The training will have a large focus on Combustion Appliance Zone testing due to its importance with maintaining the health of the housing occupants. You will go on location and be taught how to identify common residential problems and learn to use the following equipment:

Written Exam Included in Course Fees- There is no training involved in this section of the course. This is the actual BA Written Exam and is conducted online with a BPI-approved proctor one Afternoon during the training week.
Field Exam not included in Course Fees - This exam is a one-on-one 2 hour exam consisting of you performing an assessment of a home incorporating the various features learned in the Building Analyst training course. The exam is conducted by a BPI-approved proctor, and scheduled on a first come first serve bases starting the Friday following the class and anytime in the future. Call for testing fees.
This condensed Envelope Professional class is perfect for the home performance professional looking to add the BPI Certification to their resume. BPI BA Certification is highly recommended as most of those items will not be covered. In just two short days you can be exposed to all the necessary information needed to successfully pass the online and field exams. The online exam is administered at the end of the second training day. Field exams or mentoring can be scheduled after the successful completion of the online exam for an additional fee. Field mentoring or past experience is highly recommended prior to scheduling the Field Exam.
BPI’s Envelope Professional: This is an advance certification and is the follow on step from the BA certification to becoming a professional energy auditor. BPI’s course covers the following topics designed to prepare you for the 2 hour 100 question written exam and the 2 hour one-on-one field exam.

BPI's Building Performance Institute Envelope/Shell course is a BPI residential certification specialization. Although the class includes a review of some Building Analyst concepts, students must have had Building Analyst training and certification to take this class.

The training will have a large focus on Zonal Pressure Analysis testing due to its importance with pinpointing envelope violations. You will go on location and be taught how to identify common residential problems and learn to use the following equipment:

Written Exam included in Course Fees - There is no training involved in this section of the course. This is the actual EP Written Exam and is conducted online with a BPI-approved proctor and taken one afternoon during the training week.
Field Exam not included in Course Fees - This exam us a one-on-one 2 hour exam consisting of you performing an assessment of a home incorporating the various features learned in the EP training course. The exam is conducted by a BPI-approved proctor on a first come first server bases starting the day after the training. This exam can be scheduled at any future time of an additional fee. Call for exam fees.
This Building Analysts class is perfect for the heating professional looking to add the BPI Certification to their resume, needing an advance certification for Accriadatoin, or just needing the duct tightness testing experience for the IECC 2009. In three days you can be exposed to all the necessary information needed to successfully pass the online and field exams. The online exam is administered at the end of the third training day. Field exams are scheduled after the successful completion of the online exam. BPI BA certification along with field mentoring or past experience is highly recommended prior to scheduling the HP Field Exam.
BPI’s Heating Professional Certification: This is an Advance certification and is a great addition to a professional energy auditor's tool box. BPI’s course covers the following topics designed to prepare you for the 2 hour 100 question written exam and the 2 hour one-on-one field exam.
Curriculum topics covered:
Understand the relationship between heating systems in a building with the goal of maximizing safety and energy efficiency
Learn techniques for improving efficiency and durability of heating systems in existing buildings
Become familiar with best practices for heating and distribution system replacements and installations
Become familiar with best practices for general heating system inspections
Learn procedures associated with gas heating systems, oil systems, furnaces and forced air distribution systems, boilers and hydronic distribution systems, steam distribution systems and domestic hot water systems, including:
• Safety and efficiency inspections
• System repairs and replacements
• Air flow and duct leakage inspections
• Combustion gas analysis
